The general lighting of fair halls is equal and characterless for everyone. What sets your stand apart from the hundreds in the aisle is your own light. The right lighting is a small item in the budget, but its effect on perception rivals the largest item.
A Three-Layer Light Setup
Professional stand lighting consists of three layers. General lighting makes the whole stand look airy; accent lighting brings products and messages forward with spots; decorative lighting — concealed LED strips, hanging fixtures, backlit surfaces — sets the atmosphere. When the three are in balance, the stand looks both bright and full of character.
Lightbox: The Showcase of the Fair
The backlit fabric tension lightbox is the most powerful tool in fair graphics. The visibility of a printed panel depends on the hall light; a lightbox carries its own light and is read from the far end of the aisle. For a brand visual, a campaign message and a product photo, the lightbox gives the highest impact per square metre.
Colour Temperature and the Brand
The colour of light determines the stand's character. Cool white (5000K and above) gives a sense of clarity in technology and medical; a warm tone (2700-3500K) builds intimacy in wood, textiles and hospitality areas. Mixing the two on the same stand is possible but must be done deliberately: display cool, seating area warm — a random mix looks cheap.
Don't Skip the Technical Details
The lighting plan is made together with the electrical plan. The power subscription obtained from the fair organiser must be calculated by total load; using LEDs lowers both consumption and heat. Spot angles are adjusted during the build — light hitting the eye drives the visitor away, light falling on the product draws them in. Spare fixtures and a final-day check are insurance against the sight of a burnt-out spot at a three-day fair.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much of the budget does stand lighting take? Usually a small share; but it comes first in the order of impact. Lighting should be the last item to be cut.
Lightbox or printed panel? If visibility is the priority, a lightbox. A printed panel is economical but depends on the hall light; a lightbox sets its own stage.
Who does the electrical connection? The main supply is brought in by the fair organiser's authorised team; the in-stand distribution is engineered and built by the stand company.
